Coming from a family of winemakers in Roussillon, Vincent Lafage chose to carry on the family tradition while focusing his work on organic and natural winemaking. In 2016, he founded his own estate, Les Salicaires, in Canet-en-Roussillon, just a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean. The following year, in 2017, he leased an additional 15 hectares in Saint-Jean-Lasseille to gain experience in viticulture, making wine from part of that harvest and selling the rest of the grapes to other winemakers—the first steps toward a strong penchant for collaboration that would come to define his work for years to come.
The vineyard, cultivated using organic farming methods, stretches across dry, primarily clay-limestone soils, surrounded by garrigue. Vincent grows a wide variety of grape varieties typical of the Roussillon region: white, gray, and black Grenache, Macabeu, Muscat, Chardonnay, Carignan, Mourvèdre, and Syrah.
