Who's the winemaker in France who has the vinif' assassine and whose wines borrow their eclectic flavours from poetry?
David Large, of course! Whether it's through his texts, which follow the lines of prose poetry and impose their rhythm, or through his wines, the interested party diverts the accustomed from the beaten track, undresses the inhibited and makes the frames waltz. But he does so gently. A Vintage 86 unique sown, raised and vinified in Beaujolais, a perfectly imperfect style backed up by diplomas, "for those who find it reassuring"...
"I'm proud of my land again.
To come from the earth, to have earth. To have hands clean of earth.
Fucking proud."
The intention is clear: to cultivate family roots and authenticity. Winegrowing is indeed a genealogical affair, and in the Large family, it has been handed down from father to son for some 180 years, no less! The wines produced by David Large, who farms with his wife Célia, are all organically grown, and an ever-increasing selection is produced according to the precepts of natural wine.
