Known as RAF, Raphaël Baissas de Chastenet spent part of his childhood in the vineyards alongside his grandfather. After holding various jobs, including a position in IT at Apple, he left that world when his father offered him the opportunity to take over vineyards planted thirty years earlier in Calce, in the Roussillon—a village considered the historic stronghold of the region’s natural wine, not far from winemakers such as Padié and Georget.
The Nada estate was founded in 2014. After restoring the 7 hectares of vineyards located high up on a steep and demanding slope, Raphaël produced his first vintage that same year—without any formal training in viticulture—relying solely on his instincts. In the early days, he was assisted by Jean-Philippe Padié, a local winemaker. No treatments in the vineyard, no added sulfur during winemaking: the estate’s name, Nada, sums up his philosophy of «adding nothing» to nature.
